Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO CUSCO & CITY TOUR

Our staff will be waiting for you at Cusco’s airport; they will be in charge to escort you to your hotel selected previously.

We highly recommend taking it slowly on your first day in Cusco! Rest a while to acclimatize to the altitude of Cusco City (its elevation is around 3,400m or 11,200ft above sea level). We also suggest drinking the Coca tea, minimizing physical activities, eating lightly and drinking lots of water to avoid altitude sickness.

In the afternoon, our Cusco City Tour starts between 13:00hrs to 13:20hrs; we will visit the sixteen century Cathedral of Cusco located in the heart of the city (Plaza de Armas) which contains over 400 paintings from the Cusqueñan School in addition to colonial art. Continues on to visit the “Qoricancha” (Temple of the Sun) as well as several impressive archeological inca sites such as: Sacsayhuaman the Royal House of the Sun, Q’enko the Pachamama or Mother Earth temple, PukaPukara the Red Control and Tambomachay the water temple. Our tour will be finished by the main square. You might like to enjoy a nice dinner out in one of the many restaurants nearby, or if you prefer you can enjoy the city night life of Cusco City, or we can also arrange to drop you off by your hotel.

DAY 2: MACHU PICCHU TOUR

Early in the morning, enjoy the delicious breakfast that your hotel have to offer you, then our staff will pick you up and transfer you to the sacred valley OLLANTA train station in order to board the train to Aguas Calientes (the nearest town to the Sacred Incan Citadel of Machu Picchu). Once you arrive at Aguas Calientes, you just need to relax and enjoy because our Professional Tour Guide will be there to welcome you. Then you will go to bus station where you will be boarding your last connection to Machu Picchu; the bus ride takes around 25 minutes and follows a zigzagging slight slope with nice views.

Once in Machu Picchu, the private guided tour around the Sacred Incan Citadel starts and it lasts around 2 hours 30 min. You will explore the highlights of the Sacred Incan Citadel of Machu Picchu; visiting even the famous panoramic view promoted by the national geography society. When the tour finishes, you will have time to explore the area on your own. Your return to Cusco city will be by train until the next train station where our staff will be waiting to escort you to your hotel in Cusco.

Optional: Hike up Huayna Picchu, the peak overlooking the Machu Picchu Archaeological site. This hike is steep and takes about 3 hours round trip, but affords spectacular views of the surrounding Andes and views over the Machu Picchu citadel from above. Numerous Inca burials have been found in cavities on this mountain. Please let us know if you’d like to add this to your itinerary.

DAY 3: DEPARTURE FROM CUSCO:

Depending on what time your flight departs from Cusco; our staff will pick you up and escort you to the airport in a private transport. Once you arrive at the airport, our Cusco & Machupicchu, Easiest & Shortest Way program concludes.
